When I built my computer in the summer of 2003 (yes, it really is that old), I bought a Logitech MX Duo. This combo came with Logitech’s wireless Elite keyboard and wireless MX700 optical mouse. The keyboard has since broken, and I replaced it with an old used Logitech wireless keyboard that Glenn had lying around, but the MX700 is still the best mouse I’ve ever owned.

Unfortunately the old guy is starting to give in. The wireless signal gets dropped sometimes; the batteries aren’t holding a charge very well; the mouse doesn’t seat itself properly in the base station anymore. So, it looks like I’m in the market for a new mouse, and I’m looking for suggestions. I think I still want wireles, I’ve really noticed the convenience over the years with my MX700, but beyond that, I really don’t know. I’m also considering trying out a trackball.

I don’t do alot of gaming anymore; in fact at the moment the only games I’m playing are the old Space Quest and King’s Quest games from Sierra and Starcraft, so not much demanding there. In the near future I’ll be playing StarCraft II (I plan on being azn by the time it comes out) and Firearms 2 (which I’ll be playing for fun, with no serious commitmenet).

So I appeal to you for any recommendations you may have.

Get a trackball! I use a Microsoft Trackball Optical (which are apparently no longer made), but a number of Kensington and Logitech models are highly rated.
