Last time you saw me, I was gearing up for exams. I can easily say that this was my worst exam period to date. There were a number of factors leading to this.

First, we had nearly two weeks off between our last day of classes and our first exam. This is too much time. It allowed me to relax too much, leaving the studying for too late. This isn’t first year anymore; you can’t learn each course in 48 hours ;)

Second, the group of people I studied with this time around didn’t have the stamina that I’m used to. I’m accustomed to locking myself in a room with Glenn and Ryan, cranking the butt-pumping techno, and burying myself in textbooks/problem sets/exams for 16 hours straight. A short sleep, and then right back at it. This time around, we rarely worked for more than 6-8 hours at a time.

As for working on my own, well, I’m terrible at that. I am too easily distracted by the intratubes.

Lastly, the exams themselves were agonizingly bad this year. I have never come away from an exam leaving so many questions that I didn’t even attempt (except Electricity & Magnetism in first year; that exam was brutal).

Well, Christmas has passed, and marks are finally up on ROSI; turns out this was my best semester to date. Of the courses posted so far, I’ve managed an 80% average, which qualifies as an A. The last mark we’re waiting on is AER501: Advanced Mechanics of Structures. I expect this to be above my average, thus bringing it up a percent or two.

Mid-January brings us back to the grind, with a new set of courses. So far, I’m finding them less interesting than their previous counterparts. Here’s hoping they get better as the semester goes on.

Oh yes, and did I mention… THESIS’D =/
