I have been working on modifying the Minimalia theme by Dale Mugford and Matthew Good, tweaking it here and there to suit my needs. I was planning to wait at least another week before updating the site, but decided its close enough to just work for now.

I will continue making changes to it over the coming weeks to smooth things out. For example, I want to implement an AJAX-login/logout to prevent guests from having to visit the separate login page. I also want to push around the post meta block; where it sits now (up there at the top of the post) is rather obtrusive, if you ask me.

Update

I am aware of the issue with the flash video in the post Firearms 2 Teaser Video. This appears to be an incompatibility between DreamHost’s FLV plugin and the Minimalia theme. I will work on getting this fixed; if I fail miserable I will ask Dale to see if he can figure it out.

I have successfully moved the meta block to the bottom of the post. I have re-styled it to make it less obtrusive and removed the bookmarking facilities (such as Digg, del.icio.us, etc).

Yay for DreamHost! Last night, due to a typing error, DH’s main firewall router shut down the entire network. After about an hour it still wasn’t fixed, so I went on with other things, including going to sleep. It seems to be back up and running now, though the site is a little slow; their network is probably clogged with people clearing command queues etc.
