It is Sunday night here in Toronto, and I’m trying my hardest to avoid schoolwork. I’ve a thesis meeting tomorrow morning and a midterm (in Aeroelasticity) on Tuesday. Since theses are due (I believe) on April 11th, this leaves me about a month to work on it. In that time I need to
- Pick a trial function (a.k.a. the Armitage function)
- Create a function to return the point stencil for any given ordered approximation
- Modify my B-matrix initialization script to allow the order of the approximation to vary across rows
- Plot trial results against the Armitage function
- Analyze the stability of the approximation for time-varying solutions (i.e. check to see if my eigenvalues are all in the left-hand plane)
- Perform a literature review of the state of research
- Prepare a ~50 page thesis report
Oy.
Last night was Gradball 0T7+PEY and 0T8; I wasn’t originally planning to go, but it turns out a lot of my friends were going to be there so I decided I would show up as well. Not only was I the last name on the guest list, I had to ask Nini on Friday to call Stores and tell them to sell me a ticket when I came by, since sales were technically finished already.
I’m glad I went, it was a lot of fun. The food was good, the drinks were expensive, the DJ picked a predictable set (with not-so-great transitions), and there was one girl that left storming down the hallway balling her eyes out. All in all, a typical formal school event.
There was an address from our valedictorian, Tahir. I was surprised by this because I hadn’t heard that he had won; last I heard, people were sill voting. I felt kind of bad for Sara, as see seemed pretty honoured to have been nominated, and I think she would have served well as our valedictorian. Oh well.
Links
I have created a links page to keep track of the various blogs, comics, and news sites that I frequent. The initial population of this list is as follows:
Weblogs
Humour
Social
Academic
- Blackboard Portal
- CCNet Course Management
- University of Toronto
- University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies

Update
I have just realized that the ordered list I used above (regarding my thesis tasks) looks terrible; after our study party tonight I’ll touch it up to not look so gross.
