I currently wear an old set of Oakley E-Wire 2.0 sunglasses. They are now five years old, not polarized, pretty scratched up, and losing integrity of the frame joints. As such, I am in the market for a new pair of sunglasses. I am looking for something that has a full frame, as opposed to a wire frame. The primary function of these glasses will be for driving a ski boat.Polarized lenses are a necessity.
I spent about half an hour at the Sunglass Hut yesterday where a lovely young saleswoman was trying to help me find something suitable. We tried the entire Oakley jacket catalogue, Bollé, and several other brands that I cannot even remember. By the end of it, we had determined together what I had known going in: the only suitable pair of sunglasses are the Oakley Twentys. Unfortunately for me, the Twentys are discontinued! This means I won’t be able to select frame and lens colours, I will be limited to whatever retailers happen to have in stock from two years ago.
Happy, I am not =(

Hey, buddy. I found your blog while searching around Last.fm. I really like it. Good job, man.
Also, I know how hard it is to find appropriate shades for anything. Shades seem to be one of those products that have to be perfect, or they just end up looking silly, or are just not right for what you wanted to use them for. I have one pair of shades that I have had for the last 3 years or so, and I am so afraid that they break or get scratched because I know I will not be able to replace them. I feel your pain.

As soon as I saw this site, I knew it reminded me of Matthew Good’s site. Great site to get inspiration from.
Hey Dave, glad to hear you like it =) Matt and Dale did a great job on making a nice, clean code-base, so much so that I haven’t even ever gotten around to doing some serious customization to it!
I ended up buying a pair of polarized Straight Jackets.. not quite the right shape, but they were the best I could find. I ended up trying a whole slew of other brands, and the Straight Jackets were the closest thing to what I needed. Oh well =/
Because I already have pair of dependable shades, I have not seriously stepped in a sunglass store in ages, so I am not familiar with Straight Jackets, however, that is nothing a good googling couldn’t fix. I really do hate the process of trying on shades though. It is frustrating and disheartening. Oh well, since you have chosen a pair, maybe they willl grow on you?
