I'm not sure whether it is because of my recent insomnia, my continually useless and annoying classes, or my incessant playing of Guitar Hero, but I've been on a bit of a metal kick recently. In the past week, I have acquired discographies for and been listening to several thrash/speed/hXc/epic/[...] metal bands, such as DragonForce, Megadeth, The Locust, and All That Remains.
To be honest, this is the first occasion I can recall spending any significant ...

Yay, the grades for Structures were finally posted =D I did about as well as I expected, which lands my final semester average at a few percent above the class average of 78%.
In other news, we're down to four days until the boat show this Saturday. Yet again, we will be arriving early and spending the morning ogling all of the new displays this year. Around lunch time we'll pause for a tailgate party ...

Last time you saw me, I was gearing up for exams. I can easily say that this was my worst exam period to date. There were a number of factors leading to this.
First, we had nearly two weeks off between our last day of classes and our first exam. This is too much time. It allowed me to relax too much, leaving the studying for too late. This isn't first year anymore; you can't learn ...

Monday night I was working on our latest SSD assignment. The internet is the primary means of communication amongst our team members; we have an FTP share, a wiki, and a mailing list. Well, conveniently enough, my internet cut out. Repeatedly. I fought with it for about an hour before I gave up and walked to school with my laptop (at 1:00am in the morning) to use the wireless internet available there.
When I got back ...

There's an article over at TorrentFreak, and here's the article text:
The Canadian police announced that it will stop targeting people who download copyrighted material for personal use. Their priority will be to focus on organized crime and copyright theft that affects the health and safety of consumers instead of the cash flow of large corporations.
Around the same time that the CRIA successfully took Demonoid offline, the Canadian police made clear that Demonoid’s users don’t have ...

I found this at matthewgood.org; a great clip that speaks to some of the religious arguments surrounding stem cell research.
Gone From Her Forever
On a note related only in that I also saw this on matthewgood.org, I found the following to be a really powerful image that made me die a little on the inside.
From the Flickr caption:
I came across this picture on Sonny's blog and it really demonstrates the side of the war in Iraq ...

Tabula Rasa
Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa (the video game) was released yesterday, November 2nd, to retailers. I saw a preview for this game a while back and it looked quite intriguing, though I must admit I haven't been following its development since. Frankly, a game has to completely sweep me of my feet if they expect me to pay a continuous $15 per month to play it. Battle.net found a way to be free of charge, ...

I recently installed the latest release of Ubuntu, version 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon). So far, I have to say that I am pretty impressed with it. I hadn't upgraded since Dapper (6.06), which means alot of my apps were out of date (I was using Firefox 1.5, Gaim 1.5, Azureus 2.5, Amarok 1.4.3, etc) and it feels pretty good to finally be up to speed with FF2, Pidgin, Deluge, etc. To the right you can see ...
